Guest Speaker: Julian Onions will be presenting “Particle Physics for astronomers”. An introduction to particle physics, so that you know how to tell your proton from your quark, and your bosons from your hadrons and a bit on how we use them in astronomy.
Free entry for members of the society.
£3 on the door for non-members.

Join us for our 2nd October public stargazing event at the John Harper Observatory in Dalby Forest. Come and see the stars, planets, nebulae and galaxies under one of the darkest skies in the country.
Location: East Ayton Village Hall
This event is for those who have, or want to develop an interest in Astronomy, but don’t know where to start, or for those who have a telescope and don’t know how to use it effectively.
It will include a short introductory talk followed by a chance for non-members to approach members for help and advice on astronomy or in setting up and using telescopes etc.
If the skies are clear then telescopes will be available outside for observing.
Feel free to bring along equipment you may have, especially if you don’t know how to use it and want some guidance!
