Unfortunately due to work commitments, Dr Lee Sproats has had to withdraw from our June 21st meeting.  However Lee will rearrange to visit and give his “Telescopes of the Future” talk at a future meeting.

We will be visited instead by Dr Juergen Schmoll from the Department of Physics at Durham University.  Juergen is a good friend of the society having attended several times as guest speaker and is a regular attendee at our Starfest events.

Juergen will be giving us a talk entitled “Tackling the turbulence”.  The talk illuminates the problem of air turbulence diminishing astronomical observations, and remedies, from a historical route getting from visual planet drawing over speckle-interferometry to modern adaptive optics systems.

The meeting takes place at Ayton Village Hall with doors opening at 7.00pm; talk starting at 7.30pm.  The night is free for members of the society and visitors are welcome to attend with a charge of £2 on the door.  The talk will be followed as usual by refreshments.
