Introduction to Astronomy evening
This event is for those who have or want to develop an interest in Astronomy but don’t know where to start or have a telescope and don’t know how to use it effectively
It will include a short introductory talk followed by a chance for non-members to approach members for help and advice on astronomy or in setting
up and using their telescopes.
Feel free to bring along equipment you may have if you don’t know how to use it.
Free for members.
£3 for non-members, payable on the door.

The 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landings is on 20th July 2019.
As our July meeting is the AGM, we are holding an Apollo themed Meeting in June.
We hope to a have a couple of short (15 minute or so) talks on subjects relating to the Apollo 11 mission as well as the entire Apollo programme as well as related materials and activities, we hope to have an interactive activity as well (barring any technical difficulties)
If anyone would like to bring along anything Apollo related for display/discussion or speak about the subject (or both!), please let us know at saras.secretary@gmail.com

Guest speaker Stuart Atkinson, from Eddington Astronomical society in Cumbria will be presenting the talk “REMEMBERING CASSINI – Looking back at the Cassini Mission to Saturn”
Stuart describes himself as “a lifelong amateur astronomer and “Public Outreach Educator” living in Kendal, in the beautiful Lake District in Cumbria, England. I am the author of nine children’s astronomy and spaceflight books, and my latest book, “A Cat’s Guide To The Night Sky” was published last October by Laurence King.”
Free entry for members of the society.

S&RAS members will be at the Ayton Gala on Saturday 14th August 2021, 11:00 – 16:00.
We will have Solar scopes set up for safe solar projection (weather permitting).
The society has held our monthly meetings at the village hall since 2005, so this is the ideal opportunity to promote the society and our meetings as well as our calendar of public stargazing events in Dalby Forest.
