Members of the society held the 2nd annual winter star camp over the 28th February and 1st March 2014 at Humble Bee Farm, Flixton.
Partly cloudy skies throughout the evenings and lovely clear blue skies during Saturday daytime allowed plenty of both night sky and solar observing. Among the night-time objects high on the list of members’ observing lists were the planet Jupiter, the winter delights of the Orion nebula and Pleiades and supernova SN 2014J in the galaxy Messier M82 in the constellation of Ursa Major.
Several families on the camp site also joined us at some point through the weekend to take the chance to look through a telescope; many for the first time.
A gallery of members photos taken during the weekend will be uploaded once these have been gathered together.
