Talk: Prof. Sam Falle – Supernovae @ Ayton Village Hall
Jun 20 @ 18:30 – 20:30

The guest speaker for the April meeting will be Prof. Sam Falle, Professor of Astrophysical Fluid Dynamics from the School of Mathematics at Leeds University who will be giving a talk on Supernovae.

An outline of the talk from Sam…….

A supernovae occurs when a star that is too massive to die quietly explodes at the end of its life. The energy released in this explosion is so great that the star becomes more than a hundred billion times as bright as the Sun for a period of six months to a year. The talk describes these events and uses the mathematical theory of explosions to illuminate the relationship between supernovae and explosions on Earth, particularly nuclear explosions.

The talk will be followed by refreshments.
