Members of the public along the east coast were treated to a fantastic display of the aurora borealis or northern lights last night (27th February 2014).  The display was caused by an X-class flare originating from the Sun and interacting with the magnetic field and atmosphere of the Earth.

A gallery of aurora images taken by members Andy Exton FRAS and Steve Bowden last night has been uploaded to the society website.  If any other members of the society or even members of the public have further images taken locally and are happy to see them on the website then please do share.
